“Toelicious” recipes for grilling out in our wonderful Wisconsin weather!

We’re finding inspiration for this Memorial Day weekend post from our recent “toelicious” ad campaign (or maybe it’s from our hungry stomachs).

Memorial Day weekend in Wisconsin has become synonymous with grilling out. Who wouldn’t enjoy a good dish outdoors while enjoying a four-day-weekend and appreciating the efforts of our service members?

We’re here to help, so we thought we’d suggest recipes for your weekend that involve ONLY your grill, making your weekend “toelicious.”

Kabobs
1 1/2 pound beef cubes, cut in cubes (amount is dependent upon the amount of kabobs you need)
Soy sauce
Worcestshire sauce
Seasoned salt
Pineapple, cut in cubes
Cherry tomatoes
Red potatoes, cut in cubes
Fresh mushrooms (without stems)
Skewers

Combine soy sauce and worcestshire sauce in dish. Add beef cubes, making sure that the soy sauce/worcestshire sauce marinade covers beef cubes. Lightly season beef cubes with seasoned salt. Allow marinade to sit for 4-6 hours in refrigerator. Remove from refrigerator. On skewers, alternate beef cubes, pineapple cubes, cherry tomatoes, red potatoes and fresh mushrooms. Start grill. When grill is preheated, place skewers on skewer tray. Grill for 10 minutes or until desired doneness.

Serve with slices of grilled garlic bread.

Grilled Strawberries
Strawberries
Balsamic vinegar
Sugar

Put strawberries on skewers. Cover strawberries with balsamic vinegar and roll in sugar. Cook on grill for a few minutes. Serve alone or with ice cream.

And that’s it!  Do you have any other recipes you love to enjoy on the grill?  Please share in the comments below.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend from Y’s Way Flooring!

The Role of Remnants

These remnants at Y's Way Flooring in Watertown are waiting to save you money!

These remnants at Y’s Way Flooring in Watertown are waiting to save you money!

As you’re doing your spring cleaning, stop ignoring all the stains on that hallway carpeting. It’s time to change it up and get that nasty carpeting out of your house.

If you look at the back room of any Y’s Way Flooring, you’ll find your BUDGET FRIENDLY answer: a remnant. (We can hear your reaction: “A WHAT????”)

Remnants are the remainder of a roll of carpeting that we can’t use, but you can. The best part about remnants is the low cost. Remnants are ideal for any part of your house that is not huge, but could use a cleaner, new carpet. Think small bedrooms, hallways, offices…

You’ve got the idea, now just pick up the phone or stop in at any Y’s Way Flooring in Watertown, Lake Mills or Oconomowoc. We’ve got the remnant that will play a prominent role (pardon the pun) in sprucing up your home.

You’ve got a gift for Mom, right?

Rear view of little girl holding bunch of flowers behind back with her mother and grandmother looking at her on mother's dayYou’ve probably raced out WELL ahead of time and already bought your Mom a wonderful gift. HOWEVER, if you’re like us, you’ve got a Mom who has EVERYTHING. Besides, what else could she possibly want? She has you.

While that philosophy is interesting (though not something we’d recommend that you tell your Mom), we thought a list of gift ideas would help so Mom isn’t disappointed this Mother’s Day:

  1. Fun. How about taking her out for a day of shopping or just to dinner?
  2. Your work. Offer to do a job for her around the house, like cleaning her floors or raking her yard. She’ll appreciate the effort, and you can keep your favorite child status.
  3. Change something she doesn’t like. Ask her if she wants a new rug or light fixture. If she opts for the rug, head over to Y’s Way Flooring and we can help.
  4. New flooring. We had to throw it in there. What Mom doesn’t want new flooring?
  5. Carpet cleaning. Best part of this idea is that you don’t have to do the actual cleaning. Simply call your local Y’s Way Flooring and set up a day that works best for Mom.

Most importantly, don’t forget to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” We know she’ll appreciate your effort…just as you can appreciate ours: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOMS OUT THERE!
